Akweya development association to float newspaper

Arrangements have been completed for Akpa (Akweya) Community Development Association (ACDA) to begin its newspaper to be known as OPUKE.

The National President of ACDA Barr. Aba Ejembi who disclosed this at the National Conference of ACDA held recently, stated that the present Exco and the various stake-holders of Akweya nation have approved the establishment of OPUKE, meaning "the Voice of the people"!!

Aba Ejembi explained that for a

minority tribe like Akweya that has been relegated to the background, the need for a powerful medium to project Akweya issues could not be over emphasized.

He cited the example of how Akweya has been excluded from governance structure in Otukpo and Benue state governments as a whole as nobody was speaking for Akweya people.

The President then announced the constitution of those to handle the OPUKE newspaper as follows; Mr. Fidelis Otebe as Chairman, Elder Law Possible Ediba Editor and Ejembi Simple Odeh Secretary.

Other members are Odoh Diego Okenyodo, Dave Akoji, Abrahams Ochife, Mrs. Celina Anyeba and Mrs. T. H. Ogwuche.

He appealed to the team to ensure the project takes-off without delay.

In a similar development, the ACDA President, Barr. Aba Ejembi has appealed for the creation of women wing of the association with immediate effect.

Those selected include Mrs. Stella Inyamuwa Ogiri as President, Mrs. Elizabeth as Secretary, and Mrs. Rose Nero Onaji, Treasure.

Others are Mrs. Helen Omega Aba PRO, Mrs. Beatrice Nico Odeh Provost, while the Ex-officio members include Mrs. Elizabeth Igbago, Mrs. Felicia Ediba, Mrs. Jane Ikpa and Mrs. Abigail Ejembi.

  1. I support this initiative 100%. This is a very attractive and important development in Akweya. It's embracing. I therefore, highly appreciate the effort of the Publisher and his team. May the Lord God Almighty bless the Publisher and the akweyas that conceived this noble idea.
